That's a matter of choice. libssh has more features and supports more secure 
ciphers (AES CTR modes), hmacs (hmac-sha2) and kex algorithms (curve25519-
sha2) than libssh2.

With libssh 0.7.x we support hmac-sha2-256, hmac-sha2-512 and Ed25519 public 
keys.

There are RPMs available for libssh in EPEL6.

libssh is available trough EPEL in RHEL6.
