Re: Writing an SFTP Server Using lobs she

Hi Stef, Skerbsf,

No need to raise the voice. The topic belongs to everyone to contribute,
feel free to digress and/or ignore the topics you don't want to speak about.

On the subject of libssh itself: we'd like to support 100% of
SSH-related technologies, under the following condition:
- That technology has to be standard and widespread enough to be
included (SFTP certainly qualifies)
- We have limited resource for development. Unless you can motivate us
to implement it for free, code is always preferred to long emails
- We have a rather strict (maybe more than the average FOSS project)
quality standard for libssh contributions. The code must be well
written, maintainable, and support as many potential users as it's
possible, due to reason #2: if we merge bad quality code and/or
incomplete code, it will invariably break and generate workload that did
not exist in the first place. We'd rather not have a feature than a
broken one.
- We are slow on development and support, but we do give constructive
feedback on contributions.

The SFTP Server code is very old (2004-2005) and did not evolve with the
rest of the code base due to its very limited usage. If other developers
show up and share their interest into an improved API for the SFTP
Server side, we'll give efforts.

Regards,

Aris
